Or, in more modern terms: The shoemaker's kids go barefoot.

I'm told this proverb is based on an old folktale. I don't know if that's true--it seems pretty self-contained to me. I've seen plenty of examples to support the idea. The wives of carpenters and construction workers complain about the unfinished projects around the house. The preacher's kids go through a wild stage.

And I have finally given up trying to have my website fully written and edited before I go public with it.

Why isn't it finished? It seems every time I get deep into the project, I get distracted by ...

My writing goes on the back burner, and I am consumed with editing and final details and supporting another writer.
